Combat rifle

A combat rifle is a rifle designed for use in battle, as opposed to one meant for hunting or target shooting. Combat rifles have evolved through the years to become smaller and lighter, with a somewhat less powerful bullet but a higher rate of fire and easier handling characteristics.

Examples include the AK-47 and M-16.
