Ancient Canaanite religion

The Ancient Canaanite religion, also known as Baalism, was the religion of the Canaanites, a group of ancient, historical pre-Jewish inhabitants of the Levantine region known as Palestine. By practitioners of Christianity, Islam and Judaism, it is viewed as a form of paganism. It is known that the Canaanites practiced a religion that worshiped a god named Ba'al (meaning master in Semitic languages), and that eventually it was superseded by Abrahamic religions (Jewish, Christian and Islamic).

In addition to Ba'al, a god known as Molech or Moloch was worshiped and sacrifices were purportedly made for this figure of Canaanite religion. Today, while Moloch is no longer worshiped by people in this region, there are conspiracy theories that allege the existence of Moloch worship in a secret suburban California resort called the Bohemian Grove. However, most of these theories are dismissed in the mainstream political sphere.
