Michael Bluth is the sane middle son of Lucille and George Sr. on the Fox Television comedy series, Arrested Development. He is portrayed by Jason Bateman.

He has three brothers and a sister. He is sandwiched in between George Oscar and Byron. He is the twin of Lindsay, who is involved in an open marriage with struggling "actor", Tobias Funke. Michael is also the brother to Annyong, his Mother's drunkenly adopted new Korean son. He was married but his wife died, leaving him the responsibility of raising their son, George Michael on his own. Fortunately for Michael, a family crisis intervened, allowing him to spend much more time around his family than he'd expected. George Michael was thereby provided many possible role models from amongst his extended family. But, the Bluths only build "model homes". The other meaning of this phrase is another example of this shows penchant for exposing double meanings. A model home can also be an ideal household filled with stability, affection and encouragement. This does not typify the Bluth household.

Michael was not named the company's Chief Executive when his father was imprisoned for defrauding investors and stealing from the company's coffers. Instead, the company was handed over to Lucille who promptly hired Buster to be the new president. Buster was not prepared for the job, so Michael inherited it by default. He also inherited the thankless task of rescuing the Bluth family company from sure bankruptcy and oblivion. It didn't help him that his family was not adjusting well to their change in status. They required Michael to wean them off of their casually arrogant affluence to prepare them for the rigors of daily living. As the series has demonstrated, they cannot be helped. Michael has soon accepted that nothing he can do will alter the course of any of their lives. But he is devoted to his son and raising him to be something other than what he sees within his family circle.
