A wiki is a type of software that makes it easy for a large number of people to edit a web page without any special connection other than a web browser. Examples of wikis are Wikipedia and Encyc. Wiki technology was first invented in the 90's. The first wiki was called WikiWikiWeb, and it was developed by Ward Cunningham.
The most popular wiki software is MediaWiki. DokuWiki is also frequently used.
