Its most immediately obvious symptom is a sticky secretion on the mouse's fur (thus the name); however, it is accompanied by lack of muscle control, [[ataxia]], [[alopecia]], loss of [[Purkinje cell]]s in the [[cerebellum]], and eventually, death.
